“I love TenantCloud! As a relatively new property manager, it has made my life so much simpler.”

As far as being a REALTORⓇ goes, Matt Willis had it down pat. In 2018, he quickly established himself as a top-performing agent, making top sales at his firm in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

But when it came time to start his own property management business, Matt felt like a middle schooler going to class for the first time. “I was brand new at property managing.” He says. “I was looking for a comprehensive but easy software program to implement.”

Determined to overcome the learning curve that so many first-time property managers face, he began exploring his options. “I wanted something simple enough that I wasn't learning a difficult program AND how to manage properties at the same time.”

The Problem: Up the Creek Without a Platform

Not all property managers launch their rental business by diving headfirst. But for a seasoned REALTORⓇ like Matt, who already understood the rental market, it was the best way to get his feet wet.

Of course, he knew he had only a short time before he’d need a property management platform to keep his process afloat. (Puns intended.)

He landed on TenantCloud in April of 2024, and it was smooth sailing (sorry) from the start.

The Solution: Software that Does the Heavy Lifting

With his TenantCloud account freshly set up, Matt got right to work learning the ins and outs of his dashboard, adding rental properties, and helping tenants onboard.

TenantCloud’s user-friendly interface made it easy to adapt, and soon Matt was moving forward with confidence. After he received his first rent payment via the online payment portal, he knew he had made the right choice.

“It was very easy to use,” he says. “It keeps me organized and makes accepting and sending money simple.”

As Matt began to master the tools inside TenantCloud, he took on more responsibilities with ease. “It has made me more confident,” he says. “I don't have to worry about it if it’s in the system; I know it’s being taken care of.”

Opening the Door to Growth

When Matt first started TenantCloud in 2024, he managed one rental. Now he manages 37. His dedication, industry knowledge, and ability to use property management software got him there.

“I have gone from one door in April 2024 to 37 doors in March 2026—I couldn't have done it if TenantCloud was difficult to use.”

When asked what tools he uses, Matt says it’s a tie between Maintenance Tracking and Online Payments. “I use maintenance tracking and payments the most,” he says, “But I really like TenantCloud’s ease of use overall.”

Planning for the Future

When asked about his future, Matt’s outlook is bright. “I plan to always be learning about the new features that are being released and about ones that I haven't started using yet.”

Wherever his business takes him, we’re sure it involves plenty of open doors.
