How do I run a background check?

Most landlords prefer to screen potential renters before moving them in. Note that tenant background screening can be initiated by the landlord or it can be requested of the tenant by the landlord.

Once your landlord has requested a screening report from you, the next step is to log in to TenantCloud and complete the screening application. 

You will receive an email and a feed notification about the screening report requested by your landlord as well.

Go to the Applications page from the left menu and click the "Screening Report" button under the appropriate application:

Please note! 

Background screening reports are powered by RentPrep and Checkr. Your landlord is responsible for selecting the screening provider.

Let's have a look at both scenarios:

On the screening order preview page, you can both "Submit" or "Cancel" the request:

If you've decided to proceed with a screening, enter your personal info on the Applicant Information page:

Then enter your payment card number and accept the RentPrep Terms of Service to complete the screening request:

Please note!

All reports will be completed during business hours (Mon-Thurs 9am-7pm EST and Fri 9am-5pm EST).

Platinum Package orders may take up to 24 hours. If your order takes place on the weekend, it will take priority first thing Monday morning.

The prepared screening report will be sent to the landlord's account and email inbox. You're welcome to reach out to them if any clarification is needed.
