How do I run a background check and credit check report?

Most landlords prefer to screen potential renters before moving them in. They can request to pay for the screening report from tenant or pay for it by themselves.

Currently, we offer Background Check (RentPrep) and Credit Check (TransUnion) screening reports.

 

Background Check:

Once your landlord has requested a background check screening report from you, the next step is to log in to TenantCloud and complete the screening application. 

You will receive an email and a feed notification about the screening report requested by your landlord. You can continue your screening process directly from dashboard by pressing "Run Screening Report" or go to the Applications page from the left menu and click the "Screening Report" button under the appropriate application:

On the screening order preview page, you can "Order" or "Cancel" a request:

If you've decided to proceed with a screening, enter your personal info on the Applicant Information section:

Then, fill in the required fields on the Additional Information section:

Finally, check if Applicant address is synchronized correctly with your application information, and change it to your current residing address if needed. Enter your payment card number and press the "Pay & Submit" button to complete the screening request:

Please note!

All reports will be completed during business hours (Mon-Thurs 9am-7pm EST and Fri 9am-5pm EST).

Platinum Package orders may take up to 24 hours. If your order takes place on the weekend, it will take priority first thing Monday morning.

 

Credit Check:

Credit check is the screening report powered by TransUnion that allows your landlord to order a credit check, among the list of other useful information.

After your landlord has requested credit check screening report, you will receive an email notification with a link to complete an application. In case you weren’t able to complete the application for the first time, you will receive the link once again in the 24 hours after the first one was sent.

The landlord has an option to choose the payer - to pay for the report by themselves, or to ask you to pay directly for the report.

All reports will be completed during business hours (Mon-Thurs 9am-7pm EST and Fri 9am-5pm EST).

The prepared screening report will be sent to the landlord's account and email inbox. You're welcome to reach out to them if any clarification is needed.
